well, radiation is..
hmm....according to wikipedia..
radiation is a form of wave and it can be an ionizing and non ionizing radiation..
(according to the paper that we printed).. it is an energy traveling through space..
radioactivity...
according to wat i have heard from my teachers..
it is a spontaneous emission of radiation..
alpha particle, beta particle, and gamma rays..
this is all you need to know..
Type of Radiation: Alpha Beta Gamma ray
Mass(atomic mass units): 4 1/2000 0
Charge: +2 -1 0
Speed: slow fast very fast(speed of light)
Ionising ability: high medium 0
Penetrating power: low medium high
Stopped by: paper aluminium lead
**stable or unstable atom**
an unstable atom is also known as radioactive..
we can identify if an atom is stable if the no. of protons and no. of neutrons are:
odd-even, even-odd, even-even.. if its unstable: odd-odd and its atomic no. is 83 and above..
***radioactive decay***
it is the dacay of a radioactive substance in a random fashion but a characteristic way..
half life is the time required for an isotope to decay half of the the atoms...
evry isotope has its own half life..
